Australia Working Holiday: Preparing Solo, Part 1. What Do You Need?

Hello everyone

AWork Study Abroad here :)

Australia, which was temporarily closed off due to COVID,

has been open to Korean citizens who have been vaccinated since last year.

Since then, Working Holiday visa applications have also been accepted since December 2021,

and visa approvals are apparently being processed very quickly as well.

In today's post, we'll cover everything you need to know

about the Australia Working Holiday visa, from A to Z.

First, the order for issuing a Working Holiday visa is,

Visa Application -> Payment -> Health Check -> Visa Approval

The process proceeds in the order above.

1) What Do You Need to Apply for an Australia Working Holiday Visa?

- A passport with at least 1 year of validity remaining from your departure date

- Resident registration card

- An English bank balance certificate of AUD 5000 (about 5 million KRW) or more

- A credit card that can be used for overseas payments

** Notes **

- For your passport and English bank balance certificate, a color scanned copy must be uploaded.

- The name on the English bank balance certificate must be identical to the name on your passport.

2) Visa Application Fee?

During the final step of the visa application, you'll need to pay the visa application fee.

At this point, you'll need to have a credit or debit card ready that can be used for overseas payments.

The current visa application fee is AUD 510,

and since it goes up every year, it's a good idea to check the official website to be sure.

Also, please note that a card fee (about $10) is charged separately.

3) Visa Health Check?

Lastly, you'll also need to complete a health check.

There are a total of 4 hospitals in Korea

designated for Australia visa health checks.

They all operate by appointment only,

and since the rules vary depending on COVID-19, it's safest

to check with the hospital in advance before booking.

- Gangnam Severance Hospital

- Sinchon Severance Hospital

- Sahmyook Medical Center

- Busan Paik Hospital

You can get tested at the four locations above,

and you should be careful, as there are things you need to bring for the test.

- Health form: issued after visa payment

- Passport

- Passport photo

- Health check fee (around 170,000 KRW, varies by hospital)

In today's post, we looked at what you need to prepare

for the Australia Working Holiday visa.

Since you've waited so long, please prepare thoroughly

so that you can have a smooth Working Holiday,

and be sure to check off the essentials before you depart :)
