About the School
The University of Ottawa, located in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, where French and English are both official languages, was founded in 1848 and boasts a long history. The language programs, where you can learn French as well as English, include EAP and EBP courses for university admission as well as specialized language study courses. Each course offers a variety of programs that let you experience Canadian and North American culture alongside your language study. EAP consists of 21 hours of classes per week, with terms of 6, 8 and 12 weeks, from beginner to advanced levels. A certificate is awarded upon completion of each course. What is notable about the University of Ottawa is that it offers additional programs at no extra tuition for students taking language courses. You can improve your language skills using computers, VCRs and audio booths, and students studying English for university admission can take the TOEFL test free of charge. Dormitories are available only during the spring and summer terms, and since the university only provides information on accommodation other than the dormitory and does not arrange it, students must take care of their own housing.
