About the School
American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) The American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI), the intensive English program at California State University San Marcos, was established in 1992. Many international students from around the world study at ALCI to prepare for future university admission or to build everyday English conversation skills. Language study students are issued a student ID card, so they can freely use campus facilities on equal terms with local students. The General Intensive Program is a class suited to students preparing for the TOEFL. Completing this program allows conditional admission, and students who score 550 or higher on the TOEFL before completing it can be admitted immediately. The Communication and American Culture Program is a good program for students who want to improve their practical conversation skills.
School Features
- Conditional admission letters are available, and because it is a small language center, there are many opportunities to get close to your teachers. It offers university preparation programs, conversation classes, short-term programs, and more, and you can also use the university's golf course and the Olympic-standard track on campus. The university was established here only 13 years ago, so all facilities are brand new and state of the art. A dormitory will be built starting in fall 2007; for now, students use homestays near the school.
