About the School
The English Language Center (TELC) The English Language Center (TELC) is the largest ESL program in New York City. About 7,000 students enroll each year. TELC is part of the Continuing Education division of LaGuardia Community College. Since 1971, TELC has offered a variety of English programs, meeting the cultural and academic needs of students of many nationalities. TELC's ESL program is an English program offered to students who have been admitted to the college. Courses are offered from beginner to advanced levels. Listening and speaking skills are emphasized at lower levels, while reading and writing are taught more intensively at advanced levels. The highest-level courses, ESL099 and ESL098, can be taken alongside one or two regular academic courses. ESL098 and ESL097 can also be taken together with foundation courses.
