Hello, this is AWork Study Abroad.
Whether it's to learn English or
to experience another country's culture and live abroad,
many people plan a working holiday for all kinds of reasons.
But since living abroad
means visiting another country on a working holiday visa,
how much you can earn once you start working
is also an important factor to consider.
So today, let's talk about how much the minimum wage is
in each of the destinations you can visit on a working holiday visa.
1. Australia

Australia is one of the most common choices
for Koreans doing a working holiday,
and one reason is that it's known
as one of the higher-wage countries in the world.
There's no cap on the number of applicants and you can apply anytime,
which is one of several reasons it's so popular.
It's also one of the countries
with no restrictions on the type of job you can take with a working holiday visa.
Australia's working holiday minimum wage
as of the increase on July 1, 2022
is $21.38 (approximately 19,169 KRW).
2. Canada

Since Canada's minimum wage varies by province,
what matters most is which province you go to.
To name a few examples,
British Columbia $15.65 (approximately 15,629 KRW)
Manitoba $13.50 (approximately 12,676 KRW)
New Brunswick $13.75 (approximately 12,906 KRW)
3. New Zealand
New Zealand is popular for its beautiful natural scenery
as a working holiday and language study destination.
New Zealand caps working holiday applications at about 3,000 people per year
and accepts applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
The current minimum wage for adults
is reportedly $21.20 (approximately 17,304 KRW).
4. UK

As mentioned, Canada's wage varies by province,
and in the UK, the minimum wage varies by age.
It's highest at £9.5 for those 23 and older,
and lowest at under £4.8 for those under 18.
In today's post, we looked at
the minimum wage for working holidays in each country.
Since minimum wage policies can change at any time,
if you're preparing to go, we recommend checking
for any updates before you leave :)
